Garden Offices

The never-ending rise in the cost of living continues to increase our financial burden almost on a daily basis.

Fuel prices in particular have risen alarmingly over recent weeks.  It wasn’t so long ago that a full tank of fuel in an average family car cost around £45; now, with prices rapidly approaching £2 a litre, the same amount of fuel can cost around £10 more.  If the car needs filling up on a weekly basis then that’s an additional £520 per annum that has to be found from somewhere.

So maybe it’s time to re-think the use of our beloved motors and decide which journeys have to be made by car, and which don’t.  Take the daily journey to the work; how many of us really need to waste time and money driving into town just to sit in an office with everyone else? With wireless network and internet access people have more choice of where, when and how to work.

Mark Simons, Managing Director of Aspect Structures, specialists in the design and construction of garden buildings, says:

“We are finding that more and more people are looking at flexible home working options.  The need to be in the office from Monday to Friday, 9.00am to 5.00pm, is rapidly becoming irrelevant, and this is where garden offices really come into their own.”

Working from home would not only save us time and money previously spent on fuel, parking and other travel expenditure, but it would also reduce our carbon emissions too.

If fuel prices continue to rise then maybe we will start to see a major shift in the way people work.  With more people opting to work from home, there would be fewer cars on the road, particularly at rush hour, which can only be a good thing.

With a reduction in the demand for fuel then the oil companies would be forced to reduce their prices.  This ultimately means more money in our pockets as a result of spending less on fuel in the first instance and the savings made by the fall in fuel prices.

So working from home could be a win-win situation.
